Local LGBTQ slang and terms have evolved as culture has continued, and it has changed as time progresses. By the confluence of digitalisation, cultures from abroad and social media, the way the LGBTQ community refers to itself has changed drastically over the last 40 years. Some terms are almost never used now; others are on the up and up. Here is a list of local LGBTQ slang and terms that are being used.

The self-reference rule
The one thing I would consider in this property, apart than the term’s offensiveness to a community or to the general public, is in the term’s usage, particularly within the community. Is a person consciously using the term in order to reclaim it? Has it been historically used by members of that community to refer to themselves? And lastly, is the use of the term detrimental to the community and society at large?

Do note that slurs may be used to refer to anyone from the queer community or used by anyone in the queer community to refer to themselves; this property is largely used to denote which communities are referred to in the slang, term or slur (and thus most likely affected).
